Bird Island – Lamberts Bay:
Just off the coast lies the spectacle of Bird Island with its gannets, cormorants, penguins and seals, attracting ornithologists from all over the world.

Jakkalsriver Lake Wetland – Lamberts Bay:
Birds such as flamingos, pelicans and the ever travelling waders can be viewed here.

West Coast National Park – Langebaan:
Just inland from the secluded harbour of Saldanha Bay one finds the azure waters of the Langebaan Lagoon. Thousands of seabirds roost on sheltered islands, pristine golden beaches stretch endlessly into the early morning mist and brooding salt marches are home to vast concentrations of migrant waders from the northern hemisphere. During spring the strandvel is embroidered with a tapestry of multi-hued flowers.

Sishen Saldanha Railway Bridge – Lutzville/Koekenaap:
Near to Lutzville is this spectacular bridge stretching over a distance of 1035m. The decks weight is 14 100tons.

Aquaculture (Sea Farming) – Saldanha:
This area is suitable for the cultivation of mussels, clams and oysters. The first farm was established in 1982 to cultivate the blue Mediterranean mussel, the South Africa clam and the Japanese oyster.

The Berg River Estuary – Velddrif & Laaiplek:
This is one of only two locations in South Africa that qualifies as a water hotspot. This estuary is home to nearly 30 000 birds.

Iziko West Coast Fossil Park – Vredenburg:
Iziko Fossil Park is run by the South African Museum. It offers a large excavated area of animal fossil remains exposed during mining activities. A bird hide is available on the large dam for viewing an array of species.

Meerhofs Castle – Bitterfontein/Nuwerus:
The farm Meerhof is the site of the cave where Governor Simon van der Stel camped on his expeditions to find copper mountains of Namaqualand.

Biedouw Valley – Clanwilliam:
Here in Biedouw Valley you will find one of the richest flower areas in the district.

Elandsbaai Caves – Koringberg:
San rock art and archaeological sites.
