WINELANDS

The Cape Wine lands to the east of Cape Town offers a spectacular array of tastes and sights. Much of South Africa's wine productions are based in this area, making the Winelands South Africa's Bordeaux of Napa Valley. Wine farms in the Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschoek areas are producers of the country's finest wines. They have opened their cellars and properties to visitors. Franschoek is fast becoming known as a gastronomic destination, to which international and local chefs lure dinners. Because of the nature of the soil and the requirements of the area's discerning locally made Brie, Camembert and goats cheese. Pile fresh organically grown berries onto home-made ice cream, or taste chocolate made right here but in the Belgium tradition.
